Forney ISD Elementary #12 (Located in Las Lomas) Named Jim and Linda Jacobs Elementary

On Monday, October 6, the Forney ISD Board of Trustees voted unanimously to accept the Facilities Naming Committee recommendation to name the elementary #12 after Jim and Linda Jacobs.

Jim and Linda Jacobs have been dedicated to the Forney community and Forney ISD since settling there in 1969. Their combined legacy includes over 50 years of service to the school district, their church, and various civic organizations.

Jim Jacobs was a decorated veteran who served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, earning a Purple Heart, a Bronze Star and was posthumously inducted into the Texas Veterans Hall of Fame. He also served on the City of Forney Planning and Zoning Committee, commander of the American Legion Forney Post 591 and served FBC Forney as a deacon and teacher. He was a founding member of Forney’s first Fellowship of Christian Athletes chapter, and helped establish a strong foundation of mentorship for students.

Linda Jacobs spent 26 years in Forney ISD, starting as a teacher and progressing to various administrative roles, including Assistant Principal at both the elementary and high school levels. She eventually retired as the Assistant Superintendent for Accountability and Learning, a role in which her leadership contributed significantly to the overall success of the district.

After reviewing hundreds of nominations from the community, the Facilities Naming Committee selected the Jacobs for their incredible service to Forney ISD and the entire community.

Jim and Linda Jacobs Elementary will open in the fall of 2026, and is located in the Las Lomas subdivision.
